Benson M. George is an active participant in the Beacon After-School Program at MS 172, in Floral Park. He participates in various classes and activities such as Boys Discussion Group, Homework Club and Open Gym.

In school, he takes an active interest in the sciences. Benson was recently selected as a "Junior Fellow", one of the five top science students chosen from each middle school. For the Junior Fellows, Benson had to complete a major medical research project. He is also a member of the school Debate Team and is described by his teachers as a "warm, cheerful, and kind" student who "readily helps others".

Benson has two brothers, and is also interested in cars and designing electronics.
