Mr. Balestras was born in Little
Neck, N.Y. in February 1927. He has works at Suzanne Fur Shop in Little Neck
since 1946, has attended P.S. 94 and New York School of Design in New York.
In 1945 Mr. Balestras enlisted in the military, 78 Infantry Division, 310 Infantry Regiment. In December of 1945 he was in the Eastern Theater of Operations (France, Germany-Berlin). He was Honorably discharged from the military in November of 1946.
Mr. Balestras was awarded the Army
of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
In 1964 Mr. Balestras joined the Lions Club, served as President and was awarded Lion of the Year in 1998. He was instrumental in raising building funds for the Little Neck Douglaston Ambulance Corp. and volunteered for many years as an ambulance driver.
