James Flaherty

Jim Flaherty was born and raised in Little Neck and is the son of Joan and Jim Flaherty, Jr. He is married to Gloria and has two sons, James IV and Louis. Memorial Day always was a big day for the Flaherty family. His father was not only Parade Chairman but served as a combat veteran during the Korean War. He was involved with the VFW, American Legion and the Marine Corp League. “We were taught as youngsters to understand the sacrifices of all our veterans. My heart and prayers go out to all the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our freedom.”

Jim Flaherty has been President of Brown & Flaherty Mortgage Co. since 1994. His office is located in historic Douglaston. He has been in the mortgage business since 1986 under the guidance of Burt Brown who currently, with over 50 years in the business, is active in the day to day operations of the company. The mission of Brown and Flaherty Mortgage Co. is to offer the most competitive pricing in the industry without giving up personalized service. Jim still spends his evenings and weekends visiting customers in their homes and handling their transactions personally.

Along with running his business, he is currently Vice President of the St. Patrick’s Society of Queens, an active participant with Team in Training, President of Herrick’s Athletics Boosters, Director of Flag Football for Mineola PAL and Basketball Coach for St. Aidans CYO. Some of his business and personal awards include: Flagstar Mortgage partnership Award, Citibank’s Quality Partner Award, Chase Preferred Customer Award, Chase Home Finance Advisory Board Member, Jeff Cantor Memorial Award, CYO Sportsmanship Award and New Hyde Park Wildcats Sportsmanship Award. Brown and Flaherty Mortgage actively support the following charities: National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Institute for Educational Achievement, A Cure for Connor, Frank Handley Foundation, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Douglaston School of Literature, St. Anastasia, and Larry Izzo, A Benefit for our Troops.
