Woman Of The Year
Dee Richard
It’s
hard to remember a time when Dee was not covering the Queens scene. In fact the
standard joke is, “It’s not official if Dee doesn’t cover it.” For the past five
years Dee has been writing the “Dishing with Dee” column and producing “Focus on
Queens,” a photojournalistic page for the Times Ledger Newspaper chain which was
bought by the New York Post about 2 years ago.
In the October 16, 2006 edition of New York Magazine a feature article was
written about Dee renaming her “The Gossip Queen of Queens,” a title she still
enjoys.
Prior to going with the Times Ledger Group Dee did the “Trib Pixie” page for the
queens Tribune and the “Press Pixie” page for the South East Queens Press. She
covered both Pixie pages for a number of years and enjoyed doing them. Recently
it has been suggested by several people that she should consider syndicating
both her column and photo page to all the local papers so everyone everywhere in
Queens could enjoy seeing the photos and catching up on the gossip, political
and otherwise-it’s food for thought.
Dee serves on a number of organizations committees, her favorite being QTIPS
“Legislative Review,” where they also allow her to have a mini cameo appearance.
Dee like the rest of us apparently enjoys hamming it up once in a while.
Dee is also a T.V. Producer/Director for QPTV another job she just loves doing
although she has been neglecting that aspect of her creative life lately. She
intends to get much more involved this season.
Dee has received at least a dozen plaques or more from various Queens
organizations and she is proud of each and every one of them.
The professional organizations and clubs she belongs to are too numerous to
mention although the New York Press Club and the Queens Chamber of Commerce come
to mind as her favorites.
If you come across her at an event be sure to stop and say “Hi!” If you are
planning an event make sure to let her know as she is always looking for
interesting people or occasions to cover.
Her latest project has been to form DMJ Consulting Corporation with 2 partners,
Michael Feldman and Accountant from Great Neck and John McCarron an Attorney
from Huntington/Mellville. How does she manage to do it all? According to her
she has absolutely nothing to do between 3 and 4 AM in the morning that’s when
she plays catch-up.
